Fixing a ‘Dangerous Site’ Warning in Google Search

October 23, 2025

A few days ago, I received an email from a client saying that when they opened their website, Google showed a red warning page saying “Deceptive site ahead” and blocked access completely. It’s one of those alerts that instantly makes visitors close the tab — it really kills trust.

After checking, I found that one of the plugins had caused the issue because it was outdated and not an original version. I started by running a full scan using Wordfence to ensure nothing harmful was left. The scan revealed several injected scripts hidden inside some database tables.

I manually cleaned those scripts, ran another scan to confirm everything was safe, and then submitted a Review Request in Google Search Console to have the site rechecked.

A few hours later, the warning disappeared and the website was back online, healthy and clean again.

This was a good reminder that keeping plugins updated and using trusted sources isn’t optional — it’s essential for maintaining a secure and reliable site 🔒.
